About the Journal
Mechanical Theory and Systems (MTS, EISSN: 3141-1274) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing research in mechanical engineering fundamentals, system dynamics, and their interdisciplinary applications. The journal bridges theoretical innovation with practical engineering solutions for industrial and societal challenges. The journal is published online semiannually by Cultech Publishing Sdn. Bhd.
Aims and Scope:
Mechanical Theory and Systems focuses on cutting-edge research in mechanical design, system dynamics, robotics, smart manufacturing, and energy-efficient technologies. Key areas include, but are not limited to:
- Mechanical System Theory, Modeling and Simulation
Theoretical and computational modeling, system dynamics, vibration, multibody systems, nonlinear mechanics, and simulation of mechanical systems.
- Design, Structural Mechanics and Advanced Materials
Mechanical design, structural analysis, solid mechanics, lightweight structures, functional and composite materials, and materials for mechanical applications.
- Dynamics, Control, Robotics and Automation
Dynamics and control of mechanical systems, robotics, mechatronics, autonomous systems, intelligent control, and industrial automation.
- Manufacturing and Industrial Systems
Advanced manufacturing, smart manufacturing, machining, additive manufacturing, production systems, digital manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
- Thermal, Fluid and Energy Systems
Thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, thermal management, fluid machinery, energy conversion, internal combustion engines, propulsion systems, combustion, fuels and fuel technologies for mechanical and thermal applications, petroleum- and gas-related mechanical systems, conventional and renewable energy technologies, hydrogen and fuel-cell systems, hybrid energy systems, thermal and mechanical energy storage, and sustainable energy technologies, provided that the primary contribution lies in mechanical, thermal, or fluid engineering.
- AI, Digitalization and Computational Methods in Mechanical Engineering
Artificial intelligence, machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT), digital twins, computational optimization, data-driven modelling, and intelligent monitoring applied to mechanical and engineering systems.
- Mechanical, Thermal and Fluid Aspects of Separation and Process Systems
Membrane and filtration systems, multiphase flow and transport processes, gas separation, adsorption and absorption systems, carbon capture, water treatment, and related separation technologies, provided that the primary contribution lies in fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics, mechanical design, structural performance and integrity of equipment and components, mechanical/thermal/fluid process modelling, or mechanical system engineering. Manuscripts whose primary contribution lies in chemical synthesis, reaction mechanisms, materials synthesis or characterisation, environmental remediation, biochemical processes, or pure process chemistry are not within the journal’s scope.
The journal serves as a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration, connecting academia and industry to address global challenges in automation, energy transition, and resilient infrastructure.
Open Access: This journal operates under a "gold" Open Access model, providing free access to all readers. All articles will be published under a CC BY 4.0.
